We’re just over halfway through the Spring Season which means it is time to start thinking about Summer baseball. At this age we have some opportunities to put a Summer team or two together. This team (or teams) will play in local tournaments with varying rules. The tournaments are competitive so we’ll put the DAA teams together based on talent and the teams collective ability to compete at a reasonable level – meaning a team where players are not at an undue risk to get hurt and the players and their families enjoy the experience.
First, we need a head coach or two. The commitment to this Summer team(s) is significant. Sometime these tournaments run on weekdays and the weekend can be full days. Along with the expected baseball instruction, the coach will be ultimately responsible for selecting the team (and coaching staff) and the administrative work needed to enter and navigate through the tournaments while continually communicating with the families. We have lots of coaches who have done this before available to help but the work will fall on the head coach.
Once we have a head coach, then we’ll put together tryout dates and Summer schedules.
If you have any interest in becoming the head coach for this Rookie age Summer Tournament team(s), please contact me at Sunday624@yahoo.com .
