Christopher Zikmund Scholarship Fund

Christopher Zikmund, a 2012 Archbishop Wood graduate, was an easy going individual with an adventurous spirit who had a thirst for life.  He was very outgoing and interacted with everyone; and no matter how long he knew them, he always made an impact on them.  He enjoyed making people laugh and he loved the game of baseball.

Christopher was very involved in sports, especially baseball, and distinguished himself as a very skilled player.

We knew he possessed special talents.  He played travel and AAU baseball since he was 12 years old. Christopher was one of only a few players who made the CB East varsity baseball team as a ninth grader and enjoyed a very successful year.  He was a most accomplished catcher and power hitter. One of his greatest accomplishments was hitting a 420 foot home run at Virginia Tech University as a 10th grader.

He made friends everywhere he went in life.  The one characteristic that he will be most remembered for was his infectious smile.  Christopher died tragically as a result of a drug overdose in March, 2016. This scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Christopher Zikmund.   This needs-based scholarship will memorialize Christopher’s achievements and is designed to afford kids the opportunity to accomplish the same achievements.
