Field Hockey Sports Director

Objective:  To plan, organize and develop a field hockey sports programs and create well-run systems for all participants, using creativity, leadership and management skills, to establish a safe, positive environment for competition.

Field Hockey Sport Director Responsibilities:

Represent Field Hockey as a member of the DAA Executive Board responsible for the organization and operation of the sport under his/her supervision.  (1 meeting a month @ 1.5 hrs for 9 months)
Create registration using Sports Engine and open registration at the appropriate date.
Create a new season on the Sports Engine website each year.
Identifying and organizing volunteers i.e. coaches/assistant coaches, Junior Coaches, etc.
Create the teams for the leagues, assign the coaches to the teams, and enter them into Sports Engine.
Assigning officials for the games during the season and coordinating officials information with the DAA treasurer.
Manage the purchasing of uniforms and equipment for the upcoming seasons.
Manage the purchasing of the items for the sales table for the upcoming seasons.
Oversee the sales table while open for purchases during the season.
Synchronizing schedule creation and distribution to coaches for games and practices.
Submit a budget for approval by the Executive Board prior to beginning of the sports registration.
oMaintain and promote fiscal responsibility and wellness for the sport.
oSubmit expense reports for approval for all expenditures to the Treasurer.
Maintain rules for the sport that align with the rules of the sport and DAA’s Philosophy.
Provide annual progress reports and plans of action for the coming year.
Verifying Background Checks for all volunteers are current and on file according to DAA requirements.
Award Sports scholarships as needed to provide opportunity where it may not exist.
Investigate, resolve, escalate and manage complaints, conduct or actions (including disciplinary action) that are not consistent with DAA’s Philosophy, governance, bylaws, Code of Conduct or policies.
