ABOUT DOYLESTOWN JUNIOR BASEBALL (In-House)

Doylestown Jr. Baseball is affiliated with Cal Ripken Baseball, a division of Babe Ruth Baseball, offering organized youth baseball to players ages 5 – 12.
We are proud to offer in-house baseball at the following levels (all ages are as of April 30th):

  • T-Ball (Age 5)
  • Coach Pitch (6)
  • Minors Rookie (7)
  • Minors A (8)
  • Minors AA (9)
  • Minors AAA (10 )
  • Majors (11 – 12)

The primary benefit of Doylestown Baseball lies in the variety of in-house play that comes from having the numbers of teams that we have at each group. Being able to field 8 to 10 teams in an age group means that Doylestown Baseball can offer its community fun, age-appropriate baseball play without having to leave Doylestown or Buckingham or without having to play the same teams over and over again.

Doylestown Baseball also features play at our Majors level on fields that have a pitching distance of 50 feet and a base path distance of 70 feet (as opposed to the 46 foot pitching distance and 60 foot base paths used for our younger leagues). Referred to as 50/70 play, this field size allows base runners to lead off, stealing is permitted and pitchers work out of the stretch with runners on base. Doylestown Baseball believes that is very difficult for kids to transition from a 46/60 field to a 60/90 field while at the same time trying to learn the skills associated with 60/90 baseball rules (leading off, holding runners, etc.). This intermediate step has helped to ease that transition and our experience has shown that this has been especially helpful for 13 year olds attempting to make their middle school baseball teams.

Finally, Doylestown Baseball offers its community an opportunity to engage in competition against some of the best players in Bucks and Montgomery counties. Doylestown Baseball participates in the Suburban Travel Baseball League and sponsors 8 teams for play each spring. Doylestown Baseball also sends teams in the 8U – 12U age groups through the Cal Ripken Baseball tournaments which includes a tournament trail from District competition through the World Series in Aberdeen, Maryland at the Ripken Baseball Complex featuring 8 International Champions on CBS Sports Network.
